Eric and Vicky are both graduates of the Bible School and have been working for the last several years in Mexico City, where Eric pastors a Baptist church in the northeast side of the metropolis. Eric brought the pastors from his association for a two day visit and pastoral conference. Teaching this conference was Danny Hernandez(left), former MITC staff member and alumni. The theme for this was “Only Scripture”, emphasizing the Bible as the only rule of faith and practice for the Christian. We are glad to see Eric’s growth and leadership that the Lord is giving him among the churches.
purpose is to share the love and compassion of the Lord with those in need, but the ultimate purpose is that God would use this to bring people to faith and salvation in Jesus Christ. MITC Teacher and Pastor Moises Torres(right) and members of Belen Church, have been the ones to take the supplies to areas close to Moi’s hometown. The Lord has blessed the distribution of these items and touched many hearts with His love and compassion. In the small town of Playa Maria where everything was lost in the flooding, a family has asked that services to the Lord Jesus be held in their home. The 2010-2011 school year is well under way and we are thankful to the Lord for the students He has brought to us for training. Each of them has come professing a desire to serve God and to prepare for this by learning the Scriptures in a broader and deeper way. We have fourty-eight registered as full-time students. In the Saturday Seminary, there are forty-four adult students, aged twenty-five or older, giving us a total of ninety-two students. For these we are very grateful, but the need in the Lord's work is very great, so we continue to pray for workers for the harvest. This year, we have twelve students in their year of practice from the "full-time" program. During this forth and final year, they serve in a church or ministry assigned by the school. There, they depend upon the local church for their sustenance for daily needs. The young men sometimes are interim pastors, co-pastors or missionaries. The young ladies lead Bible classes for women and children, do visitation in the homes, and evangelism and Vacation Bible School type activities. The challenges they meet are often very big, depending on the circumstances of each work and their responsibilities. But these young people are armed with the Word of God and we pray that the Lord will empower them to His glory. |

Eber Flores (Franklin, OH) has been a group leader for several years. His construction teams have helped in construction projects on campus and in churches all over this region. This past month, he led a group of nineteen missionaries from the states of Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana, Nebraska and Texas. It is amazing to see how God unites these brethren as one family in the Lord, and then unites them again to our mission family when they arrive. Truly, the bond in the love of Christ is an amazing thing. Much was accomplished during their visit, as they helped with work at the La Cumbre church building and here on campus, working on the new classroom construction (about 60% is done now). The ladies helped by sewing quilts and curtains and painting. One of the brethren helped with the husbandry of our lime orchard. It was a good time of fellowship and encouragement. A special meeting was held during their visit with Gary Richardson, Eber Flores, Dick Patterson, and our twelve year in practice students. It was a time of commissioning and prayer as they receied their instructions, as well as locations of service. The fall dental teams were a great blessing again this year, as Dr. Hilton's team came and set up clinic in the churches of Tezonapa and La Cumbre, for a week at each place. Working with pastors Carlos and Mateo respectively. The teams helped enhance the testimony given by the church in each community. The second dental team to visit us was from Woodcreek Church, led by pastor Mark Engelthaler. These brethren went to three new locations, setting up clinics and treating about fifty patients each day. Through their efforts, the love of God was shared with the people in a very powerful way. We are thankful to the Lord for these brethren who share their lives and skills with us, and partner with MITC to proclaim the Gospel message. (Photo: Woodcreek Dental Team) |

When we think of someone who has been in the grace of Jesus Christ and who committed what he learned from Christ to many others, our minds here at MITC immediately think of Pastor Bill Stowell (Shreveport, LA). Brother Bill was our mission's pastor for more than forty years and was truly a pastor's pastor. His commitment to prayer, to the Scriptures and to the love of the Lord Jesus and God's children was a great example to all of us here at MITC. For many years, he was our graduation and conference speaker. To me personally, he was a dear friend, pastor, prayer mentor and was like a loving father during many years and situations in the ministry. In God's providence, Brother Bill was taken to his eternal home on September 24, 2010. We are challenged by his life-long testimony to live and serve with greater love and dependence upon the Lord Jesus and upon His Word. May we too commit to many, many others what we have learned of the grace of God in Jesus Christ from Brother Bill. To God be the Glory for this dearly beloved in the Lord. Our hearts have been deeply touched by the life and death of brother "Freddy" Alfredo Pacheco. He came to the school as a hired brick mason in 1994 to help on one of the many construction projects that the Lord has given us here on the MITC campus. As he worked with the concrete, our students helping him shared with him about the "Rock" of our salvation. Through this testimony, God in His grace and mercy brought Freddy to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Soon after this, Bible studies began in his home, and his wife Irma, seeing the transformation in Freddy's life, also came to believe the Gospel. In God's generous providence to MITC, we were able to keep Freddy working on ongoing projects from 1994 until 2010. His handiwork is seen all over campus in many buildings, such as the Chapel, the Villas, The Kitchen, The Tower, etc. He was also the master builder in the church building projects at Ebenezer, La Cumbre, Loma Bonita, Cuidad Mendoza, and lately at El Pochote, where he and his wife served and attended. Freddy was specially loved by many brethren from the visiting groups who came and worked with him side by side and took great joy in serving on Freddy's "crew". Freddy went on to be with the Lord after fatal complications with diabetes, with which he struggled for many years. We are very thankful for the blessings of knowing Freddy, for his friendship, and for his faithful work here at MITC. Please keep Irma, his wife, and their sons and daughters in your prayers at this time. |

As you may have heard in the news, the state of Veracruz has been severely battered by storms and lastly by Category 3 Hurricane Karl. The calculations are that 65% of the territory has been flooded in the last three weeks. There has never been a situation like this in the history of the state. We are spearheading an effort to help with those who have lost all their belongings and whose homes are destroyed. Many churches in our immediate area that have ties to MITC are gathering supplies, water, cloths and medicines to help. We have several of our alumni who are pastors in the towns under water. We hope to work with them to share food and basic supplies to those in need. Our prayer is that through the help we can give, the Lord will bring hope and love, and that others will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as savior in the midst of this most difficult time. Please pray that the Lord would bless these efforts and would multiply the supplies and bless their distribution for His glory. |

During the past month, the Lord allowed us the blessing of having our Summer Youth Camp. As each year, once again the Lord blessed in a tremendous way, using the preaching of the Word of God by Brother Bill Britt. We had a "full house" in attendance. Many were impacted by the Gospel for salvation, and we were glad to see several campers enroll in the Bible School as God called them to prepare for the ministry. This camp is directed by our alumni and staff member, Jimmy Vazquez, who, working with our third year students, put together an exciting five day stay for the youth that came from all over southern Mexico. Also, each year we are blessed during the camp by the presence of the youth group from the Baptist Church of Summerville Florida, led by Pastor Danny Guiltner. These brethren are a tremendous help during the camp as they work long hours in the kitchen helping our cooks with preparation, serving and clean up. Their spirit of service is a special testimony to the youth at the camp of the Love of Christ. |

We thank the Lord for all the help received by our summer groups. The last one of these was led by Lamar Nelson and comprised of brethren from several churches in the Shreveport, Louisiana area. In August, God allowed us to visit the United States with the United Youth Choir on a one week tour to Shreveport, Louisiana. The primary purpose of the visit was to share the Gospel in song and message with the Hispanic community in this area. We were able to go and return with the group of fifty-four brethren with His blessing. There were concerts in several public venues as well as in Hispanic and non-Hispanic churches. In each place, Christ was exalted and a strong testimony was given of His Love. The youth in the group were greatly encouraged by this opportunity to sing of the Lord's grace in the United States. Special thanks to Broadmoor Baptist Church for their part in making this trip possible.

Meche and Liz are two of our young lady students that are shining in a special way. Meche is a Mixe girl that was born in a home and family with many problems and abuses because of sin and unbelief. God began to work on her circumstances when she was adopted by her uncle, Brother Victor Castanon (missionary in Magone in the Mixe region). In that home, she came to know Jesus and grew up with a desire to serve God. Overcoming serious problems with her eyesight, language barriers and a lack of formal education, she came to study here at the Bible school. She graduated and has been a missionary to the Mixe churches for the last several years. Her testimony of love for the Lord is indeed great! This past month, she married a fine Christian young man from Puebla. We had the blessing of participating in the wedding and afterward meeting several people from Magone, who have come to know the Lord as a result of her ministry in that area. As she and Samuel move to Puebla to live and work with the local church, we know she will continue to shine for the Lord. |

Liz is a second year student who has already made quite an impact due to her love and service for the Lord. She came to study here right after she graduated from dental school, having a strong desire to serve Christ in every way possible. Feeling the need to prepare for a ministry as a dental missionary, she has enrolled in the Bible school, coming to classes in the morning and working in her clinic in the afternoons (quite a full schedule!). God gave her the blessing of meeting Eric, from the Youth Choir in Orizaba, and they were married this past month here on campus. God's gospel was preached and His love physically shared in twenty-five different towns by medical teams from Brookwood Baptist Church and Broadmoor Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. Each day during the two weeks with these brethren, we visited towns and villages to give medical consults, medicines, clothing, toys, and shared the Word with all those coming to the clinics. It was a special blessing to go to some areas where there were no evangelical church of believers, sharing with the people for the first time about God's salvation. In other areas, the work done by the doctors and teams reinforced the witness of the local church and missions. Heading up the team from Brookwood was the mission's Pastor Donny Lee and Dr. Jeff German. Preaching for the services during the week with the Broadmoor team was Pastor Chuck Pourcieau, and coordinating the trip for Broadmoor was Brother Larry Williams, long time friend and veteran of many mission trips to MITC. Many lives were touched and affected eternally by this time of special services and testimony by these dear brethren. |

July is a big month for VBS (Vacation Bible School) here at MITC and our surrounding missions and churches. Our second year class goes out divided into teams to villages in the mountains in Oaxaca. We also have VBS in the churches here in the Cordoba area and a special week of teaching for children here on campus. This last VBS effort here at MITC is aimed at children from our neighborhood whose families do not attend church. Brother Arce is our VBS coordinator here at MITC, organizing all the teams that go out, and he also heads up the week of VBS here on campus. Again helping him this year, were girls from the mission team at Bible Chapel of Delhi Hills of Cincinnati, Ohio. The last day of class, there were about ninety kids and many mothers. It was a great time as children and adults learned about the virtues of our Lord and Savior. Ana Garcia started a class for the moms that brought their children. They made crafts and had Bible studies while the children were in the VBS. Heading up the group from Bible Chapel were Pastor Kevin Landis and Dan Stout. |

Finally, on a personal note, we share with you that our third son, William, has graduated from High School and has now entered his first semester in college in Puebla (about 2 hours away), where he has started his studies in Pre-Medicine. Keep him (and us) in your prayers at this new stage in his life. We pray that he will glorify God with his life. Thank you for your love and prayers and support for us, as we want to give God glory. Sharing this great Hope is our mission, our privilege and the command from our Lord to a dying, lost world. Jesus is the Only Hope, His salvation, the only way to be free from sin's penalty and power. This is what our students are learning to share. God gave us the blessing of graduating nineteen young men and women this year. They have finished the three years of daily training and the final fourth year of full-time service, also called the 'year of practice'. It has been a difficult process for most of them having to leave home and family and acquire the disciplines necessary for a missionary, teacher, or pastor.
The words of Cesar, the spokesman for the graduating class, were very moving as we remembered how during his first year, his father and sister were killed in a traffic accident. We thought of how the Lord confirmed his calling even though it required Cesar to commute three hours every day so he, as the eldest son, could tend to his family's needs. Cesar was able to leave his family and complete his fourth year of full time service as the interim pastor of the church in Usila. Cesar and the other eighteen classmates marching across the stage to receive their diplomas, were a powerful reminder of God's faithfulness and the great hope we have. We also had the first eight graduates of the Saturday Seminary. These completed the program entailing four years of studies every Saturday. All of these are older and are bi-vocational brethren who want to be better prepared for helping in the church. As we see all these go forward, we are reminded that God's work will continue, unwavering, until His majestic return! Dr. Tom Harrison was a special blessing as he came with his wife Cindy and gave our graduation conferences and commencement address. His passion and love for the Lord and the students was a great encouragement for us all. Our hope is in the Lord! |

God has given us The Good Hope in Christ Jesus. As He lives in and through us, we are filled with the hope of the glory of God. Now, we as His children, can share this message of hope through Christ with others. In Spanish, the word for 'the hope' is La Esperanza. This was the name printed in large blue letters across the front of the camper of a Ford pickup truck. This was not a common or ordinary truck. Inside, it was equipped to perform surgeries of all kinds. As it arrived in Mexico, Veracruz, Cordoba, Oaxaca, and especially in Niltepec, it truly represented hope for many in need. This special HOPE (LA ESPERANZA) pickup belonged to Dr. Charlie Black, Sr. from Shreveport, Louisiana. His mission was to share the hope and love of Christ to many with physical infirmities and in need of surgery. Dr. Black gave his love and services to people all over the world, but here in Mexico he left a tremendous legacy as he joined Dr. John Hall and Dr. Ben Singletary in starting the medical surgical caravans that traveled by road from Louisiana to the southernmost parts of Mexico. Touching people with caring and loving hands, brother Charlie was used to plant the seed of Hope in Christ in many hearts.
After many years of traveling by vehicle, God enabled him to build a clinic in Niltepec, Oaxaca, working with a MITC sponsored physician, Dr. Santiago Santos. This clinic today bears his name, "La Clinica Charles Black", and to this day continues to offer hope through medical care to many who seek it in that part of Mexico. This past month, Dr. Charlie Black was taken to our Heavenly Home to see the hope of all believers fulfilled in all its plenitude. We thank God for allowing us to have known this brother and for his many years of service to God in Mexico and as a faithful board member of MITC. May God receive the Glory! |

Also this past month, we were blessed with a visit from the youth of Woodcreek Church in Richardson, Texas. This team of high school aged, mission-minded kids, took on a seven hour trip up to the mountainous region of El Cacique, among the Cuicateco Indian brethren. They too shared the hope of Christ through their efforts in concrete work and painting for the new church building, daily VBS for the children of El Cacique and in the neighboring village of Cacalotepec (a one hour walk). Led by youth pastor Mike McCullough, they worked alongside Tania (our 'year of practice' student mentioned in the May newsletter) and shared the love of Christ in a special way.

We are thankful for the Lord's blessing in obtaining the necessary visas for the United Youth Choir members as we prepare for the visit of the choir to the Shreveport area. The purpose is to minister primarily unto the Hispanic community. Please pray for the trip, as presently there are difficulties on the roads in the border area due to increased rains. Also pray that there will be a successful border crossing for all those traveling.
Finally, we ask your prayers for Mrs. Vicky Ramirez, (Chuy's mother, and my mother-in-law), who fell last week, broke her femur and dislocated her hand. She is recovering from the surgery on her leg and being attended by family and friends in the Lord here at the mission. |
